Educational Visits

2015 – 2016

Recently two groups of KS2 children were lucky enough to visit the Amesbury Abby during the archaeological dig that was taking place. They were able to see the dig in action after a very detailed talk by Andy Rhind-Tutt and tour of the Mesolithic area. The children enjoyed it so much and were given the chance to enter an art competition. Every child participated and created fantastic Mesolithic art which was judged by Mr Cornelius Reid and the residents of Amesbury Abbey. The winning piece will be displayed inside the Abby alongside some of the Mesolithic artefacts.

2014 – 2015

Years 5 & 6 enjoyed their trips to the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week. They were able to experience how the Saxons lived by sawing and splitting fire wood, making and lighting the fire and they also helped to build a lovely hazel fence which will be used to manage the movement of pigs and sheep once it is complete.

Years 3 & 4 had a great time visiting the Blue Reef Aquarium in Portsmouth on Thursday this week as part of their topic Under the Sea. They all took part in an interesting workshop about sharks and can probably tell you lots of interesting facts that they learnt.
