Amesbury CE Primary School

Emergency Closure

Emergency Closure Information

As a school, we are committed to keeping the school open whenever possible.  However, adverse weather impacts on health and safety, and local decisions are based on local conditions.  Whilst we do our very best to keep our school open, we see the health & safety of our pupils and staff as our first priority.

If the school site is deemed to be unsafe and/or a number of our teaching staff are unable to reach the school, it will become necessary to close the school and parents will need to make other arrangements for their children.

How will you know if the school is closed?

In cases of adverse weather conditions, or other situations that result in the school being closed at short notice, parents will be notified as follows:

  • Parents registered on Tucasi text will receive a text message (please ensure you keep us up to date with your mobile phone number)
  • The School website will be updated: amesbury.wilts.sch.uk

Announcements will also be made on Greatest Hits Radio (formerly Spire FM), BBC Radio Wiltshire, & Heart FM, who will regularly update listeners of any schools that are closed.  If you do not hear our school mentioned, or our school is not listed on the station website, and you have not received a text message, then it must be assumed that school is open as usual.

We would ask all parents to understand that, in these circumstances, no teachers will be in school. Parents/Carers must take responsibility for ensuring the school is open before leaving their child unsupervised.
