Science

At Amesbury Primary school, we aim to promote children’s natural curiosity about the world around them and to explore the scientific processes at work within it.  We develop their ability to ask questions, investigate answers using scientific approaches and analyse what they find out.  The children regularly have the opportunity to conduct experiments, make observations and conduct surveys in a practical manner.   Through these approaches, our children develop both a knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and the ability to work scientifically.

We follow the National Curriculum for Science on an annual cycle.  The main topics and objectives for each year group are listed below:

EYFS

Children in EYFS begin exploring the world around them in practical, experimental ways.  Through following the children’s interests, we support them in meaningfully investigating how things work, why things happen and what changes they see in their environment.
